This section is about frequently asked questions to do with members profiles. Here you can view all the basics to edit most aspects of your personal profile.
How do I view another members profile?
Once your on the activeboard homepage simply clcik the 'User details' link and select the 'Edit profile' link top right. You will then be able to view more in-depth aspects of your profile.
You can edit your email, signature, biography, avatars, choose to have your email hidden or displayed to ther members and alot more.
Simply scroll to the option/s you would like to change, edit them and select 'submit' at the bottom of the page. Your personal profiles are now changed according to what your just selected.
Note: Valar and Maiar can edit your personal profile as well.
One of the options you will be able to edit in your personal profile is your avatar. This is an image that will appear underneath your username on every post/topic your create on the forums.
Simply scroll down to where they avatar option is and you can choose either to 'specify a remote image' in which you will have to type the entire URL address of whatever avatar you wish to have into the bar provided. You can choose to 'Upload from the library' in which you will be directed to the current avatars for selection in the Tolkien forums library. Or your final option is to upload an image which you have downloaded from the web itself to your computer.
On the two former cases you will be able to select the size of your image. Try and aim for an image 80 by 80 pixels. You will also be able to select the 'add border' option which will create a thin black border around your selected avatar.
Note: Avatars must have a connection with Tolkien/lotr. Avatars which do not will be deleted by Valar/Maiar.
Signatures are phrases or sentences that a member has chosen to write which will appear at the bottom of every post/topic they have created. These are most usually quotes from the books or general phrases of life.
To create a signature enter your personal profile and scroll to where you can enter your signature. Enter the signature you wish to have and press 'Submit' at the bottum of the page.
Now this signature will be attached to all of your posts and topics, including those ones which you created before you created your signature.
Note: signatures are 200 characters maximum.
Simple. If you have recieved a private message then when you enter the activeboard homepage it will say so at the very top right of the page, underneath where it says who you are logged on as. Simply click there and you will be taken into your inbox of messages. Select your newest meesage subject and you will be directed to the message itself. You can then reply to the message or return to your inbox.
Its a good idear to keep your inbox (messages received) and your outbox (messages sent) as clear as possible by deleting ones which are no longer useful. You can delete them by clicking the button box by the side of each message and then scrolling down to the 'Delete' button. Once you have pressed that all the messages you have selected will be deleted.
